Stronger Together: Addressing Gender-Based Violence in the Workplace

Home / Stronger Together: Addressing Gender-Based Violence in the Workplace

Stronger Together is a collaborative initiative between Achēv, SAFE (Survivor Advocates for Empowerment), and Pride at Work Canada/Fierté au travail Canada, dedicated to addressing gender-based violence (GBV) in the Greater Toronto Area. Funded by the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, this project works to shift perspectives on GBV, provide direct support to survivors, and equip communities to take action.

What We Offer

Stronger Together addresses gender-based violence (GBV) through confidential, trauma-informed one-on-one counselling, peer support groups, and customized staff training or community workshops.

The program promotes education, early intervention, and survivor empowerment to strengthen frontline response and foster lasting change across the GTA.

Pride at Work Canada focuses on:

  • Improving 2SLGBTQIA+ safety and belonging
  • Recognizing how different identities shape the barriers survivors face.
  • Giving staff the confidence to offer supportive and helpful first responses.

All services are available online and in person. For more information on direct support services, please visit the Achēv Stronger Together website.

Pride at Work Canada’s Role

As a national leader in 2SLGBTQIA+ workplace inclusion, Pride at Work Canada contributes to Stronger Together by:

  1. Facilitating specialized training on addressing gender-based violence within 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.
  2. Providing actionable tools to improve safety and inclusion for 2SLGBTQIA+ employees and survivors.

Our approach ensures that the unique experiences of gender-diverse and sexually diverse people are not only recognized but actively centered in GBV prevention and response.

Organizational Training

Pride at Work Canada offers specialized training on 2SLGBTQIA+ experiences of gender-based violence in the workplace. Our sessions are designed to move beyond theory, providing practical strategies for both general staff and HR professionals to foster a culture of safety and belonging.

We believe that effective training should reflect the environment it’s delivered in. By completing the needs assessment offered by Achēv, we can adapt our approach to align with your organization’s specific goals and challenges, ensuring the content is directly relevant to your team’s daily reality.

Toolkits

In partnership with Achēv, Pride at Work Canada is proud to offer the Workplace GBV Frontline Guide. Part of the Stronger Together initiative, this toolkit provides practical, trauma-informed strategies to address gender-based violence with a specific focus on 2SLGBTQIA+ safety. To ensure these tools are accessible to all, the guide is available in 11 different languages.
