Stronger Together: Addressing Gender-Based Violence in the Workplace

Home / Stronger Together: Addressing Gender-Based Violence in the Workplace

Stronger Together is a collaborative initiative between Achēv, SAFE (Survivor Advocates for Empowerment), and Pride at Work Canada/Fierté au travail Canada, dedicated to addressing gender-based violence (GBV) in the Greater Toronto Area. Funded by the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, this project works to shift perspectives on GBV, provide direct support to survivors, and equip communities to take action.

What We Offer

Stronger Together provides confidential, trauma-informed services, financial literacy resources, and specialized training aimed at both preventing gender-based violence and supporting those affected by it. Our work focuses on:

  • Helping survivors heal and rebuild their lives
  • Strengthening frontline responses to GBV
  • Equipping communities to lead lasting change across the GTA

All services are available online and in person. For more information on direct support services, please visit the Achēv Stronger Together website.

Pride at Work Canada’s Role

As a national leader in 2SLGBTQIA+ workplace inclusion, Pride at Work Canada contributes to Stronger Together by:

  1. Providing guidance on 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion to our project partners Achēv and SAFE.
  2. Delivering education and training on gender-based violence in the workplace, viewed through a 2SLGBTQIA+ lens.

Our approach ensures that the unique experiences of gender-diverse and sexually diverse people are not only recognized but actively centered in GBV prevention and response.

Research & Community Input

As part of the project, we are conducting research on the experiences of 2SLGBTQIA+ people with gender-based violence in the workplace. This evidence will shape the training and resources we develop.

Focus Group – September 4, 2025
Stronger Together Focus Group

We invite members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to join our upcoming focus group. Your insights will directly inform our work and help create safer workplaces for all.

Organizational Training

Pride at Work Canada is working on building the training that will be available for organizations by late fall 2025. This will include training on 2SLGBTQIA+ experiences of gender-based violence in the workplace. One training will be focused on staff as a whole, while the other will be specific to HR professionals. Please see this page for more information in the future.
