Pride at Work Canada will open Toronto Stock Exchange on May 17 to celebrate the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) and to announce its 15 CHANGEMAKERS advancing 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion in Canada.

This year, IDAHOBIT brings different flavours to the promotion of 2SLGBTQIA+ rights. In the fight between bitter and sweet tastes, Pride at Work Canada/Fierté au travail Canada will make history by opening Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) market on May 17, 2024. Alongside colleagues and Community and Proud Partners, Jade Pichette (they/them), Director of Programs, will lead the opening ceremony and tackle the importance of trans and non-binary inclusion in the workplace.

The world continues to witness the rise of discrimination and violence against Two-Spirit, queer and trans people. We know that Canada isn’t immune to these influences giving that transphobic legislation has passed in some provinces over the past year. Despite this hateful wave, we can unite as communities with the goal of changing the present and future for new generations. It’s why Pride at Work Canada will celebrate those who are influencing better realities during TSX market open by announcing 15 CHANGEMAKERS from its national campaign.

Since January, Pride at Work Canada has engaged with members of our communities to select 15 people championing 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion in the corporate, public service, and non-profit sectors across Canada. On May 17, we will recognize their voices and contributions to a nation where every individual can achieve their full potential at work, regardless of gender expression, gender identity and sexual orientation.

CHANGEMAKERS celebrates the achievements of these incredible individuals who have made a significant impact fostering and leading diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace and beyond. It also marks marks the end of our 15th-anniversary celebrations by sharing diverse voices from coast to coast to coast and their impacts on the 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion movement, inspiring others to take concrete action to create spaces where Two-Spirit, queer and trans people can thrive and belong.
