Pride at Work Canada Closes Toronto Stock Exchange in Recognition of Pride Month
TORONTO, June 11, 2025 – Pride at Work Canada/Fierté au travail Canada assembled a group of its Community and Proud Partners today alongside representatives of the Toronto Stock Exchange (TMX Group) to close the market in recognition of Toronto’s Pride Month and the contributions of 2SLGBTQIA+ employees in Canada’s labour market.
This event reflects a growing recognition that uplifting human rights is a strategic business imperative, particularly in the face of coordinated attacks on the rights and freedoms of queer and trans communities. By championing workplaces that celebrate Canada in all of its diversity, employers are empowering current and future workers to reach their full potential in a way that is authentic and honours their identity.
“The energy it takes to hide who you are is energy that should be spent leading, creating and thriving,” said Colin Druhan (he/him), Executive Director at Pride at Work Canada/Fierté au travail Canada.
“At Pride at Work Canada, we want a country where you don’t have to fit in when you were born to stand out — where being yourself is seen as a strength and your human rights are respected. We’ll get there, but not without more employers standing behind us the way TMX Group does.”
With a national network of more than 250 corporate and over 100 community-led partners, Pride at Work Canada is demonstrating that organizations across diverse sectors of the economy are working proactively year-round to build safer, more inclusive, and equitable workplaces for all.
The vision that Pride at Work Canada shares with their employer members is a Canada where every individual can achieve their full potential at work, regardless of gender expression, gender identity and sexual orientation.
“Partnering with Dani Cohen (Head of Talent and Organizational Development, Human Resources) and her team at TMX Group has been a powerful experience in solidarity. Their commitment to creating space for our communities’ voices is always done with purpose and heart, said Jose Patiño-Gomez (he/him), Director of External Relations at Pride at Work Canada/Fierté au travail Canada.
Following the market close, Pride at Work Canada hosted a panel with industry leaders to discuss the advancement of 2SLGBTQIA+ human rights in workplaces across Canada. Panelists included:
§ Naoufel Testaouni, Co-Founder and CEO, QueerTech
§ Lindsay Swanson, Canadian Leader, ESG Services, Supplier Diversity & Inclusion
§ Karin Adams, Vice President, Talent & Total Rewards, TMX Group
“With strong support from Cindy Bush, Chief Human Resources Officer, TMX Group has shown our community that when they show up, they show up for real,” said Patiño-Gomez.
