Trans Support NL (TSNL) is a non-profit organization based in St. John’s Newfoundland & Labrador (NL), that aims to improve the experiences of Two Spirit, trans, non-binary, intersex, and gender diverse folks in NL through advocacy, peer support, resources, community building, and education. We provide holistic support and services for the trans community.
Our Vision
We envision a province where Two-Spirit, trans, non-binary, intersex, and gender diverse folks have equitable access to support, resources, medical and social care. We imagine a Newfoundland and Labrador where everyone feels safe and celebrated in their gender identity.
Who We Are?
We at Trans Support NL aim to improve the experiences of trans, non-binary, Two-Spirit, and gender diverse folks in NL through advocacy, community building, and expanding gender diversity awareness and inclusion in our province.
Peer Support Groups:
We offer Peer Support Groups intended for the Two Spirit, trans, non-binary, intersex, and gender diver folks 18+. These are currently held in St. John's, Corner Brook, and Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
Mending Mondays:
Mending Mondays offers free one-on-one counselling, mental health support, and system navigation for Two Spirit, trans, non-binary, intersex, and gender diverse folks and the people who love them across Newfoundland and Labrador. Sessions are available in-person, by phone, or by video!
Binder Swap:
Our binder program is open to residents of Newfoundland and Labrador age 16+ (or with parent/guardian permission). We can provide drop off in the St. John’s metro area and mail delivery for those outside the region. If you're looking for additional gender affirming gear don't hesitate to reach out!
Training Options:
One of our focuses as an organization is to support the Two Spirit, non binary, trans, and gender diverse communities of Newfoundland & Labrador through providing training to service providers in our province. In doing so, we hope to mitigate the challenges still frequently experienced by members of these communities in accessing services.
Our priority is increasing awareness and integration of gender diversity in education, medicine, social services, child and youth-focused organizations, and other community-oriented groups. If you, your group, or organization falls under any of these categories, we are here to help you expand your understanding of gender diversity and develop more inclusive curriculum, practices, programming, and operations.
Our training also acts as a social enterprise for our organization. As a non-profit with limited funding our training helps fund our other programs that continue to support our community. If funding presents a barrier, please connect with us to discuss what options may be available!
