As an intern, you’ll work alongside our experienced practitioners and with our clients and communities. This hands-on experience will equip you with practical skills, build your network, and provide opportunities that set you up for success.

Your Opportunity

Our Winnipeg office is looking for Summer Students to join our Transportation (roads and bridges) Team for a 4 or 6-month work term starting May 2026 and ending based on your work/co-op term duration.

As a Summer Student, you will be working directly with project teams to coordinate daily onsite construction activities and to ensure that infrastructure projects are completed as per design and design specifications. You must be very attentive to detail, well organized, have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to prioritize multiple tasks as required. You must be committed to teamwork, as you may be working with multiple project teams on multiple infrastructure projects, in a very fast paced and dynamic work environment.

COMPENSATION: Starting @ $23.37/hr. with potentially higher compensation rates for returning or more experienced students. Term is May – August/October 2026 (end date dependent upon your return to school date). Work hours approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 5 days per week (overtime and weekend work may be required).

Your Key Responsibilities

Daily job tasks will vary, but will generally include:

  • Assist on a survey field crew team following direction from survey crew chief, project managers, and on-site construction supervisors.
  • Transport, maintain, and operate survey equipment under direction of senior personnel.
  • Lay out grade stakes, control points, and confirm material quantities placed.
  • Assist with overall construction observations and construction submittal reviews.
  • Assist contract administration teams with providing overall construction oversight and assistance with monitoring construction progress on road, bridge, and other transportation projects.
  • Work location will consist of office work at 500-311 Portage Avenue and field work both within and outside the City of Winnipeg limits. Field work outside Winnipeg may require overnight live-out accommodations, with all related live-out expenses reimbursed.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Successful completion of at least 1st year Civil Technology or Engineering, as a minimum.
  • Physically able to work on construction sites in all types of weather conditions.
  • Proven ability to learn and take direction.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Access and use of a personal vehicle is preferred.

Education and Experience

Currently enrolled in Civil Technology or Engineering equivalent post-secondary program with availability for a 4 or 6-month internship

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
