Posting Description

The International Replication Repair Deficiency Consortium comprises a leading group of scientists interested in cancer, DNA damage repair, stem cell biology and cancer treatment. One of the major cornerstones of our research program is our mouse model team which focuses on using mouse models and human cell line systems to develop novel effective anti-tumor therapeutic strategies. Our global directive is to identify new therapeutic targets to bring to the clinic to treat patients. We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic person with previous mouse-work related experiences to join our research team.

The Research Technologist I is responsible for applying technical knowledge and skills to perform moderately complex laboratory procedures and experiments. Assignments will be broadly outlined and frequently require theoretical insight, the interpretation of empirical data, and the ability to find and extract pertinent information from technical literature. 

Here's What You'll Do:

·       Work independently or as part of a team to support and advance ongoing research projects and contribute to the daily operations of the laboratory.

·       Conduct a wide range of technical tasks under general supervision, including mouse colony maintenance, surgical procedures, cell culture, and molecular and cellular biology bench work.

·       Maintain accurate, reliable, and up-to-date experimental records; clearly documenting procedures and results; with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize protocols as needed

·       Take ownership of the day-to-day management of the specific research projects, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.

·       Oversee the organization, tracking, and upkeep of experimental supplies, reagents, and laboratory inventories, including maintenance of biobanks and sample repositories.

·       Serve as a consistent and reliable resource within the team, providing continuity and institutional knowledge.

·       Perform cross-functional duties as assigned or requested including assisting and training other lab members

·       Assist in the development and implementation of laboratory methods and procedures, including drafting and renewing Animal Use Protocol (AUP) applications.

Here's What You'll Need:

·       Bachelor of Science degree in life sciences or related discipline is required. RVT or RLAT an asset. 2-3 years of relevant laboratory experience with demonstrated reliability and consistency is preferred.

·       Strong preference for candidates with prior experience in mouse handling, colony management, tumor monitoring, tumor dissection, and downstream tumor biology experiments.

·       Experience in generating and maintaining mouse xenografts is an asset.

·       Demonstrated ability to maintain a well-organized, clean, and compliant workspace, including effective sample and data organization.

·       Excellent organizational, time management, and task-prioritization skills, with a proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently. 

·       Strong problem recognition, troubleshooting, and independent problem-solving skills.

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

·       Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative, accountability, and reproducibility in experimental work.

·       Dependable, punctual, and professional work ethic, with a patient, diligent, and dedicated approach to research.
