Posting Description
An integral member of the Children's Orthotics Clinic, the Technical Supervisor will lead, manage, coach and mentor a team of Technicians in the delivery of day-to-day technical operations within an assigned practice portfolio; facilitates the coordination of a comprehensive range of technical activities, ensuring effective and appropriate use of resources. Assists staff with professional development and achievement of program goals aligned with Strategic Directions; ensuring the team attains and maintains best practices in all aspects of their work.
The Technical Supervisor is responsible for applying improvement initiatives, workflow management, and evidence-based practice to improve patient care for the Children's Orthotics Clinic. Acts as the communication liaison between members of the team and cross functional teams within the hospital using their broad scope of expertise to make best practice and technical decisions. The Technical Supervisor has the added responsibility of competing technical duties to assist in the fabrication and fitting of patient devices.
Here's what you'll get to do
- Broad scope of expertise and will act as a resource to the technical team with regards to technical decision making and implementing best practices.
- Responsible for managing the technical group ensuring quality devices are fabricated and performance meets the standards of the clinic.
- Maintains formal processes and procedures that ensure a smooth progression of devices through the entire fabrication workflow.
- Guides, support, mentors, coordinates and facilitates the work of the technical team supporting the initiatives of the department and Sick Kids.
- Administers equipment maintenance and ensures timely recognition of repair needs and appropriate corrective action/ arranges contractors to perform maintenance when needed.
- Leads innovative departmental process changes with the use of best practices in collaboration with The Children's Orthotics Clinical Manager.
- Organize and lead regular technical meetings.
- Purchasing and inventory management for The Children's Orthotics Clinic.
- Report on equipment/mechanical issues to Plant Operations.
- Communicates directly with outside companies regarding coordination and scheduling of service including equipment repair.
Here's what you'll need
- Must have graduated from an accredited College in Orthotics and Prosthetics
- Orthotics Prosthetics Canada Registered Technician
- Minimum 5 years relevant technical practice experience
- Purchasing & Inventory Management preferred
- Ensuring best practices and quality standards
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to act as a liaison with cross functional teams
- Ability to provide guidance and technical decision-making
- A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity & inclusion
