As an intern, you’ll work alongside our experienced practitioners and with our clients and communities. This hands-on experience will equip you with practical skills, build your network, and provide opportunities that set you up for success.

Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Builder Services Group in Edmonton is seeking three motivated Survey Assistants (Summer Students) to join our team for the 2026 construction season. This is a seasonal position starting in late April or early May and continuing through September or October, depending on workload and weather conditions.

This role is ideal for first-year university students, particularly those enrolled in or interested in a Geomatics or related program, who are looking to gain hands-on field experience in land surveying.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Crew Chief with daily field survey operations
  • Support residential construction stakeout activities
  • Assist in completing grade certificates and real property reports (RPRs)
  • Handle and maintain survey equipment and materials
  • Perform physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions
  • Follow safety procedures and company standards at all times

Qualifications:

  • Strong interest in land surveying and fieldwork
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 pounds and capable of working long hours outdoors
  • Flexible schedule, including availability for weekends when required
  • Valid driver’s license is considered an asset

Education and Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program (Geomatics or related field considered an asset)

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
