Adecco is currently hiring a full-time Supervisor, Bridges & Structures – Western Region to lead construction, maintenance, and inspection activities across a designated railway territory. This role is responsible for overseeing a team of employees and contractors, ensuring safe and efficient operations, and maintaining the integrity of railway structures.
This role requires a strong leader with experience in heavy infrastructure, safety compliance, and workforce management in a dynamic and demanding operational environment.

Responsibilities:
Operations
  • Lead engineering operations related to the construction, modification, inspection, and repair of railway bridges and structures
  • Plan and oversee activities in compliance with safety standards, FRA guidelines, and company policies
  • Manage budgets and optimize workforce productivity
  • Communicate structure conditions, production updates, and risks to senior leadership
  • Implement and execute long-term maintenance strategies
Staff Management
  • Supervise unionized employees and external contractors to meet performance and safety targets
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management support
  • Apply collective agreements and company policies, including investigations, discipline, and grievance resolution
Derailments & Prevention
  • Support derailment response and service disruptions
  • Participate in investigations to determine root causes and prevent recurrence
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Transportation and Mechanical
Qualifications and Skills:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to obtain Qualification Standards for Operating Crews (QSOC) certification
  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering Technology or Structures (asset)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in bridges, structures, or heavy infrastructure environments
  • Experience in safety compliance and working with heavy equipment (cranes, loaders, excavators, hydraulic tools)
  • Experience in construction and maintenance of steel, concrete, or wooden structures (railway experience is an asset)
  • Previous experience managing budgets and leading teams
  • Experience supervising unionized workforces and understanding labour relations (asset)
  • Knowledge of Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, CAD, and Microsoft Project
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong commitment to safety leadership and risk identification
  • Effective communicator with the ability to influence and inspire
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to lead teams, drive change, and foster collaboration
  • Demonstrated agility, innovation, and decision-making capability
  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
