Adecco is currently hiring a part-time Subsea Engineering Specialist to provide engineering support for the investigation and verification of subsea equipment integration within the existing subsea production system for our client in St. John’s, NL. This role has a specific focus on enabling hydraulic well suspension and isolation capabilities using commercially available subsea injection systems.

You will bring deep subsea engineering expertise, support brownfield integration activities, and collaborate closely with contractors, operators, and regulatory bodies across planning, execution readiness, and potential offshore execution phases.

  • Pay Rate: $90 - $116/hour (based on experience)

  • Location: St. John’s NL

  • Shift: Approximately 20-24 hours per week

  • Job type: Temporary | Part-time | 6 months, with potential for extension

  • This role is offered on an independent contractor basis only and is not classified as an employee position.

Responsibilities:

Design & Planning

  • Provide engineering input to the integration of commercially available subsea injection systems within the existing subsea architecture

  • Support development and review of system integration philosophies, including interfaces and operational constraints

  • Review and assess interfaces between new equipment and existing subsea infrastructure

  • Identify and evaluate equipment placement options within the subsea system

  • Participate in technical reviews to confirm compatibility with current subsea facilities

Hydraulic Well Suspension & Isolation

  • Support the definition and validation of hydraulic well suspension and isolation concepts, including:

    • Valve actuation sequences

    • Fail‑safe behavior and contingency responses

  • Review hydraulic schematics, pressure ratings, and redundancy philosophies associated with available equipment options

Contractor, Operator & Regulatory Engagement

  • Interface with contractors to clarify equipment‑specific integration requirements

  • Support ROV‑ and vessel‑based interface definition, including tooling, deck management, and operational procedures

  • Engage with other operators to explore potential synergies

  • Support regulatory engagement activities required to advance the subsea injection scope

Risk Management & Assurance

  • Support identification and management of technical risks, including participation in:

    • HAZID workshops

    • HAZOP studies

    • Design and operational risk reviews

  • Support internal Gate approval requirements to transition from planning to execution

  • Participate in engagement with the Certifying Authority

Testing, Commissioning & Execution Support

  • Provide engineering support during:

    • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)

    • System Integration Testing (SIT)

    • Commissioning readiness activities related to subsea injection hydraulic and control functionality

  • Scope may extend to offshore execution readiness and execution, including offshore trials or planned installation activities

  • Provide construction or installation supervision as required

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Post‑secondary education in Engineering or a related technical field

  • 10+ years of experience in subsea engineering roles

  • Demonstrated experience with:

    • Subsea production systems

    • Hydraulic control systems

    • Brownfield subsea modifications and equipment integration

    • Subsea valve actuation and isolation philosophies

    • Well integrity considerations

  • Hands‑on onsite subsea experience, including activities such as:

    • HXT equipment installation

    • Choke changeouts

    • Interface verification activities

  • Prior experience working with the subsea system (highly desirable)

  • Previous experience with subsea injection systems

  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
