We are looking for intermediate Chemical or Mineral Processing Engineers in Fort McMurray to support safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible production while improving safety, quality, and efficiency. In these roles, you’ll collaborate across technical and operational teams to optimize plant operations, enhance asset performance, and support activities in Upgrading, Extraction, and Utilities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of experience; preferably in oil sands processing or Upgrading/ Refining / Utilities technologies

  • Registered or are immediately eligible for professional membership with the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGA)

  • Strong computer skills are required, experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs is essential, exposure to process simulators will be an asset.

  • Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and optimize process performance to maintain quality, yield, and production efficiency.

  • Ensure safe, reliable operations through technical monitoring, field inspections, and risk assessments.

  • Lead troubleshooting, optimization, and improvement projects while mentoring junior engineers.

  • Support maintenance, turnarounds, and efficiency initiatives aligned with safety and corporate standards.

  • Apply sound engineering judgment and collaboration to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions that incorporate process safety, value engineering and safety design principles.

  • Our candidate will be a self-starter who demonstrates strong communication and team collaboration skills.

Location and other Key details:

  • Positions are located in Fort McMurray, AB

  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday

  • This position has been identified as safety sensitive

  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer housing assistance to eligible individuals
