About Us

 

Contributes to the overall success of the Global Capital Markets Technology team that supports the Global Banking and Markets business ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Investigate, analyze, develop, and maintain a strong knowledge of trade booking workflows (ETF, Agency, Dealer), technology, and market structure to ensure most streamlined approaches are implemented.
  • Work on software currency EOL upgrade initiatives such as MS SQL DB Upgrade, JDK/Angular version upgrade, SSL/TLS upgrades etc.
  • Works closely with end-users, business analysts, and team members to understand changes to business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.

 

KEY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR PROJECT: 

 

  • Excellent communication (fluent English speaking and writing), collaboration and team building skill
  • 2 + years’ front-end hands-on experience development with Angular 11+, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery.
  • 2 + years experience with Java/Spring Boot with Microservices architecture, and JPA Hibernate 
  • 2 + years experience with relational database development with MSSQL and Oracle database as well as understanding of general database objects and structures 
  • Experience with UNIX Shell scripting in Linux environments.
  • Proficient with SCM, Build and CI/CD tools such as Git/GitHub/Bitbucket, Artifactory, Maven, Jenkins/Cloudbees
  • Post-secondary degree in a technology field (Computer Science/Engineering) or relevant experience/skillset

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. 

  • Work as a contributing member of a team. 

  • Values quality, while still managing expectations and deliverables. 

  • Open to ideas and gives and receives feedback well.  

  • Wants to understand financial market. 

 

Working Conditions

 

· Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
