Your Opportunity

Stantec is currently looking for a Senior Risk Analyst to be part of our team on a permanent full-time position. Reporting to the Program Controls Manager, the Senior Risk Analyst will support the Program Director and Project Managers/Leads with risk management responsibilities. The Senior Risk Analyst is responsible for all aspects of risk management: risk identification, risk analysis, response planning, risk mitigation, and risk monitoring. The Senior Risk Analyst must demonstrate an aptitude for efficiency, problem solving, and resourcefulness with a deep commitment to the Program goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery of risk analysis services as part of capital projects delivery in compliance with Program’s governance, processes, and objectives.
  • Development and implementation of project risk management plans including risk identification, risk analysis, response planning, risk mitigation, and risk monitoring
  • Undertaking day-to-day risk management activities including identification, prioritization, register management, action planning and monitoring.
  • Review project documents, analyze project data and develop design and construction Risk Registers, contingency and management reserve draw downs.
  • Work with project team on design and construction risk allocation and risk transfer mechanisms through either design specifications or language in the procurement documents
  • Developing and undertaking advanced Quantitative Risk Analysis including cost, schedule and integrated cost and schedule analyses, to enable robust forecasting and tracking of risk exposure
  • Assist in the execution and maintenance of design and construction risk management service frameworks
  • Recognize and manage design and construction risks in portfolio of projects and assist in putting in place appropriate mitigation plans and communicating these to avoid surprises with stakeholders
  • Delivery of value and reduction of risk exposure through active mitigation of threats and maximization of opportunities.
  • Support constructability reviews, schedule critical reviews, and review cost estimates for understanding areas of uncertainty
  • Facilitation of workshops, using advanced methods for risk, value and lessons learnt processes
  • Assist in the development of ad hoc design and construction risk reports supporting decision points in the Program
  • Prepare design and construction Risk Assessment presentations and prepare presentations of the projects risk profile
  • Production of periodic risk reporting including profiled risk expenditure, impacted risk / contingency and management reserve drawdown and risk exposure changes.
  • Promote, set up and implement a risk management system, making it appropriate to the needs of the projects through the project’s lifecycle.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Familiarity with Monte Carlo simulation and any experience with applicable software, such as P6 Risk Analyzer, or Crystal Ball is an asset.
  • Understanding of design and construction contracts and the relationship between risk management and controls/management functions including project management, change control, planning & scheduling, cost & commercial management, and reporting.
  • Evidence of previous experience in definition and delivery of risk management plans within projects.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • Collaborative working style and behaviors.

Education and Experience

  • University Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business, or related discipline
  • M.A.Sc. or M.B.A. degree in Civil Engineering, Economics, Statistics, or related field is a strong asset.
  • Certification in risk management (e.g. PMI-RMP).
  • More than seven (7) years of relevant experience in quantitative/qualitative cost/schedule risk assessment on large Programs and Projects.
  • Extensive experience with Deltek Acumen Risk software for Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) is mandatory.
  • Experience with other tools like @Risk and Primavera Risk Analysis is an asset.
  • Experience using Enterprise Risk Management tools, for example, Active Sr. Risk Analyst (ARM), Predict! and Oracle PPM (P6R) is an asset.
  • Experience in the delivery of risk throughout the program/project lifecycle including support of financial/funding decisions and delivery/implementation of stage gates at Program level.
  • Experience in the construction or infrastructure sectors.
