Responsibilities
- Assess risk and develop and implement remediation strategies for the files under management.
- Diagnose complex problematic situations and intervene to implement the necessary corrective measures to reduce risk for the Bank.
- Analyze financial and legal documentation and ensure it aligns with established strategies, complies with existing authorizations, and that collateral is valid and enforceable.
- Authorize and/or obtain authorization, within delegated authority limits, for strategies and remediation plans, irregularities, annual reviews, and required amendments.
- Submit recommendations to higher authorization levels for files that exceed delegated authority.
- Monitor files under management to maintain their quality.
- Ensure proper monitoring of operating credits and other forms of financing, and oversee the daily operations of these accounts.
- Engage external professionals as required (e.g., lawyers, consultants, trustees, brokers).
- Maintain effective communications and negotiate agreement terms with various stakeholders.
- Occasionally guide clients to refinance with another financial institution in order to repay the Bank.
- Direct, when appropriate, the orderly liquidation of client assets.
- Perform duties in compliance with applicable legislation and the Bank’s policies, programs, and procedures.
- Prepare and submit, when required, claims to organizations that provided guarantees or loan insurance.
- Authorize and/or obtain authorization, within delegated authority limits, for appropriate levels of provisions and write-offs when required.
- Inform management and other stakeholders of the progress and evolution of files.
- Ensure the production of reports and statistics for the unit; review reports related to managed accounts to ensure accuracy and provide instructions for corrections when necessary.
- Formulate recommendations to improve work processes and operational efficiency.
- Act as an expert advisor to senior management on decisions requiring restructuring expertise, and support Commercial Banking Centers as needed.
- Manage major projects and mandates that may significantly impact profitability and efficiency.
- Maintain periodic contacts with senior levels of the Bank and optimize communications with clients and internal and external stakeholders involved in unit activities.
- Stay informed of market trends and legislative changes to support the evolution of practices and make recommendations to senior management when necessary.
- Perform any other related or general duties as requested by a superior or required within the scope of the role.
Qualifications
- University education in an appropriate field and six to 10 years of experience.
