Your Role in Supporting Our Members:
As a Senior Economist, you will play a critical role in shaping Vancity’s strategic direction by delivering high-quality economic research and insights. Working closely with the Chief Economist, you’ll analyze complex economic data, build and apply macroeconomic models, and translate insights into clear, actionable recommendations that support decision-making across the organization and inform public conversations on key issues such as affordability, equity, and climate resilience. We are looking for a highly analytical and intellectually curious professional who can combine rigorous economic thinking with strong communication skills to influence both internal and external audiences.
This is a full-time, permanent role based at our Vancity head office and will report directly to the Chief Economist. While this position provides a hybrid work arrangement, you will be expected to be on-site for events and business demands.
How You'll Make an Impact:
- Analyzing national and regional economic data to identify key trends, risks, and structural drivers
- Building, maintaining, and applying macroeconomic models to forecast and interpret key indicators
- Conducting economic impact, scenario, and sensitivity analyses across policy, sectoral, and regional contexts
- Translating complex economic data and modelling outputs into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences
- Supporting the development of economic reports, outlooks, briefings, and publications grounded in the local context
- Creating presentation decks, speaker notes, and outreach materials for internal and external engagements
- Collaborating with the Chief Economist to deliver and amplify research and insights across the organization
- Identifying emerging economic, social, and policy trends and proactively driving independent analysis
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Economics or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in economic analysis, research, or forecasting roles
