Job Description

 WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

RBC Capital Markets Data Echo system includes datasets spanning investment banking, client analytics, trading, risk, research, sales, regulation and compliance. Over past few years, we have made significant progress in our data journey by enabling state of the art technology.

Senior Data Engineer along with the current team will help to expand our big data/analytics capabilities to accelerate internal and external data, AI and digital opportunities using in-house built Data Fabric and leading Big Data technology platforms.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Build scalable services and establish reusable patterns for data pipelines.

  • Provide architecture guidance, performance tuning and big data engineering expertise for use cases that require capabilities in Federated Queries, Data Ingestion, Data Security and Distributed Computing.

  • Act as a SME for at least one of Databricks, Snowflake, Dremio, Hadoop

  • Provide expertise in performance tuning that covers query optimization, choice of file formats, data layout, etc.

  • Evaluate and recommend industry leading products.

  • Establish strong working relationships with partner technology teams. Collaborate with groups to define and achieve deliverables and ensure initiatives are effectively integrated into RBC procedures and processes.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

 Must have:

  • Expertise with at least one of Databricks, Snowflake, Dremio

  • Solid knowledge of Apache Spark backed by at least 2 years of experience working with Spark on large scale projects.

  • Expertise in at least one of Java, Scala , Python

Nice-to-have: 

  • Experience with Cloudera Data Platform

  • Experience with one of Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres

  • Experience with ELK
