Job Description

 WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

Reporting Shared Services (RSS) under Strategy, Transformation & Enterprise Operations is a growing, dynamic and competitive team that delivers first class reporting services to finance and business platforms across the organization.  This position is accountable for the development, production, support and maintenance of platform and head office financial and non-financial reporting for internal, management and regulatory reporting needs.  Strong ability and commitment to deploy automated reporting solutions to meet business requirements and support report production in daily/monthly/quarterly/yearly reporting activities.  Support Reporting Shared Services strategic direction and vision.

**Please note you must be flexible to work after hours, and weekends as required for financial reporting and planning** 

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Collaborate with Finance/business platforms to establish an accurate understanding of business requirements, recommend and design approaches/solutions with design thinking.
  • Work and develop intimacy with various data sources (relational databases, data lake, etc.) and large volume of data; bridge the gaps between requirements and source data and translate reporting requirements into business logic.   
  • Leverage a variety of BI reporting tools (advanced SQL, Webfocus, Tableau and other similar tools) to develop and deploy automated reporting solutions and processes for structured reports, dashboards and other reporting capabilities.
  • Partner with internal IT partners and external vendors as required to align with the organization’s reporting related technology framework and best practices.
  • Maintain reporting environment and governance around publishing and usage of BI reports (reporting portals/sites, user access…)
  • Accountable for the production, maintenance and enhancements of financial and non-financial reports.
  • Responsible for the timely delivery of scheduled, new and ad hoc reports and change requests and adequate up-to-date documentations.
  • Ensure Service Level Agreement is met, and reports are produced/scheduled/supported within agreed timelines and reporting cycles; provide timely response to user requests.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

 Must have:

  • Undergraduate degree (Computer Science preferred) with over 2 years’ experience working with enterprise data warehouse/Teradata, SQL, and relational databases.
  • Strong ability to understand and summarize client needs, work on complex projects with limited guidance and exercise independent judgment and decision making.
  • Strong technical proficiency in SQL (primary), WebFocus, Tableau and having the capability to quickly grasp new technologies/reporting tools within a very short time frame and apply the skills to develop, produce and maintain reports.
  • Strong combination of financial/business knowledge and technical competencies to develop reporting solutions with agility and creativity.
  • Deadline-driven and results-oriented; able to meet consistently high-quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

Nice-to-have:   

  • Experience and knowledge of RBC internal systems and reporting processes.
  • Financial Services Industry experience
