Adecco is currently hiring a Senior Accountant (CPA Required) for a full-time, permanent position in Oshawa, ON. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting professional looking to take ownership of the finance function within a growing, family-owned transportation and logistics company. You will play a key leadership role, working closely with ownership to ensure financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and strategic growth.

Our client is a well-established organization with over 120 employees, currently transitioning leadership to the next generation. This is a hands-on role within a collaborative, family-oriented environment where teamwork, accountability, and strong work ethic are highly valued.

  • Pay Rate: $90,000 – $120,000 annually + bonus potential

  • Location: Oshawa, ON (On-site)

  • Schedule: Full-time | Permanent (40 hours/week)

  • Vacancy Status: This posting is for an existing vacancy.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and reporting packages, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Manage month-end and year-end processes, working closely with the external accounting firm.

  • Oversee billing, collections, and job costing processes to support operational efficiency.

  • Support cash flow management and reporting, including maintaining banking relationships.

  • Supervise and mentor a small team responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and billing.

  • Oversee payroll processes using ADP and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Utilize and support systems including TruckMate (TMS) and other accounting platforms.

  • Ensure accuracy across all financial transactions and reporting activities.

  • Maintain a hands-on approach by supporting day-to-day accounting tasks as needed.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to operational efficiencies.

Requirements:

  • Must be eligible to work and reside within Canada

  • CPA designation (mandatory).

  • Proven experience in a Senior Accountant or similar leadership role.

  • Strong experience with full-cycle accounting and financial reporting.

  • Experience working with ERP or accounting systems such as ADP, TruckMate, or similar.

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and systems proficiency.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

Nice-to-Have / Ideal Profile:

  • Industry experience in transportation, logistics, or service-based environments.

  • Experience working in a family-owned or entrepreneurial business environment.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop a small team.

  • Hands-on, proactive mindset with a strong work ethic.

  • Highly tech-savvy with a continuous improvement mindset.
