Adecco is currently hiring a Sales Director to join our client, a top-tier global consumer goods (CPG/FMCG) company. This role is responsible for leading and executing sales strategies across Out of Home channels, including Wholesale, Distributors, On-the-Go (Impulse/Vending), and HoReCa, to drive sales growth and profitability. The position requires strong leadership, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to navigate a dynamic retail environment and build strong stakeholder relationships.

The successful candidate will collaborate cross-functionally with Canadian, NAM, and global teams, including Food Service, Sales Strategy, and Marketing, to develop sustainable business recommendations and execute Joint Business Plans. The role also focuses on team leadership and talent development through coaching, training, and performance management while driving continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

Main Responsibilities:

Strategy

  • Key member of the Sales Leadership Team that sets overall sales strategy for Canada and customer areas of responsibility

  • Works cross-functionally to link sales strategies that are consistent with and supportable by cross-functional partners

Forecast and Budget Management

  • Establish and deliver volume goals for customers

  • Develop and propose budgets to achieve business results

  • Maintain forecasts and contingency plans for specific accounts

  • Accountable for managing financial budgets on both freshness and trade spending for the channel according to agreed company/sales objectives

  • Accountable for creating business scorecards

Freshness

  • Responsible for inventory management and freshness of all brands within the Impulse channel, working with retail operations and account business managers

  • Includes budget and specific freshness objective management

Customer Relations / Account Management

  • Build positive relationships with all accounts, with a focus on senior leadership, in alignment with company policies and organizational standards

  • Develop Out of Home customer partnerships by engaging in regular communication and understanding their unique needs and preferences

  • Act as the Canadian liaison for Food Service global strategy by coordinating local initiatives and development opportunities

  • Oversee and facilitate all account records, including annual customer planning and sales forecasting for the designated portfolio

  • Facilitate and coordinate communication flow to the retail operations group for execution

  • Design and implement solutions for specific performance issues (new initiatives, additional events, pricing, profit mix, etc.)

  • Prepare and present contracts for assigned clients

  • Develop sales argumentation in collaboration with Trade Marketing and Category Management according to assigned client characteristics

  • Agree with clients on the implementation of the country promotional plan

  • Propose additional promotional opportunities and supervise implementation in line with Marketing and Trade Marketing guidelines

Communication Flow Management

  • Facilitate and coordinate communication flow between account managers, retail operations, Trade Marketing, and planning departments

  • Communicate frequently so local leadership and company partners are well informed of critical information impacting their roles

  • Drive collaborative relationships with Food Service SBD teams and Impulse/Food Service US contacts to support aligned strategy development

  • Develop Solutions

  • Develop innovative and creative approaches to improve business processes, enhance efficiencies, and reduce costs

  • Consider the long-term implications of problems and proposed solutions

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a relevant field of study

  • 8–15 years of experience in consumer packaged goods

  • Extensive knowledge of retail and wholesale merchandising and logistics best practices

  • Skilled in re-engineering processes/procedures, formulating trade and sales policies, and developing and implementing new customer coverage strategies

  • Skilled in motivating and training sales personnel

  • Skilled in working effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in a diverse business environment (suppliers, customers, associations, brokers)

  • Skilled in negotiating and managing contractual arrangements

  • Skilled in performance management and employee development

  • Skilled in budget preparation and fiscal management

  • Skilled in fostering a cooperative work environment

  • Skilled in planning, organizing, and implementing a range of sales promotion programs and/or events

  • Skilled in coordinating and organizing effective meetings

  • Knowledge of freshness objectives and best practices within the CPG industry

  • Knowledge of evolving sales support technologies and deployment practices

  • Strong understanding of the Canadian retail and distribution network

  • Strong computer, negotiation, and presentation skills.
