General Description

 

Responsible to develop, implement and maintain nutrition programming at the University with a primary focus on health and wellness for the student population.

 

Representative Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Plan, implement, and engage students through healthy eating programs.
  • Develop and facilitate food allergy training for staff members.
  • Create and modify nutrition plans for students with severe allergies, intolerances and dietary restrictions.
  • Liaise with culinary and marketing team to develop, plan and coordinate recipes, menus, and nutrition programming for student population.
  • Deliver presentations to students and classes regarding nutrition programming.
  • Facilitate meetings with students and parents.  Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of food allergy program.
  • Research and advise on trending nutrition focused menu items and trends.
  • Collaborate with executive Chef on menu costing to align with targets.
  • Build nutritional data base based on current and new menu items.
  • Counsel students regarding various nutrition topics to assist in meeting their individual nutritional needs and goals.
  • Provide information on nutrition requirements and content to a variety of individuals.
  • Utilize health promotion strategies to implement and lead a workshop series aimed to increase healthy eating and food skills.
  • Facilitate focus group sessions with community stakeholders.
  • Remain current with new research findings in the field.
  • Ensure confidential, accurate and concise documentation of student information.
 

Supervision

  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and procedures for short-term staff and volunteers.
  • Provide orientation and show procedures to others.
 

Effort

 

Physical Effort:

  • A typical work day consists of greater than 3.5 hours of low physical effort for activities such as:
 

                 o Intermittent periods of keyboarding when completing forms and documentation.

  • Elements of moderate physical effort are not a regular feature of this job.
  • Elements of high physical effort are not a regular feature of this job.
 

Mental Effort:

  • A typical work day occasionally requires routine mental effort for activities such as:
 

                o Collecting routine information, filing documents, and responding to routine inquiries.

  • A typical work day consists of greater than 3.5 hours of moderate mental effort for activities such as:
 

               o Monitoring and evaluating effectiveness of food allergy program.

 

               o Delivering presentations to students regarding nutrition programming.

 

               o Provide information on nutrition requirements and content to a variety of individuals.

 

               o Researching and advising on trending nutrition focused menu items and trends.

  • A typical work day consists of up to 3.5 hours of high mental effort for activities such as:
 

              o Counselling students regarding various nutrition topics to assist in meeting their individual nutritional needs and goals.

 

              o Building nutritional data base based on current and new menu items.

 

              o Utilizing health promotion strategies to implement and lead a workshop series aimed to increase healthy eating and food skills.

 

              o Facilitating meetings with students and parents.

 

              o Facilitating focus group sessions with community stakeholders.

 

              o Developing and facilitating food allergy training for staff members.

 

Working Conditions

 

Physical Environment:

  • There are no adverse physical environment conditions inherent to the job.
 

Psychological Environment:

  • Occasionally interacts with individuals who may be rude or upset.
  • Frequently required to deal with multiple requests and simultaneous deadlines.
 

Health & Safety:

  • Risk to the incumbent is no higher than for the general population.
