Overview

The Raw Material Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the continuous availability of raw materials needed to meet production demands. This role oversees demand planning, inventory management, procurement, supplier relations, and system accuracy. The coordinator will work closely with Production, Planning, Quality, and Procurement teams to maintain optimal inventory levels, support innovation projects, and ensure materials are managed according to company standards, including FIFO and safety stock policies.

Total Compensation : $49,000 - $79,870


Responsibilities

  • Demand & Material Planning
  • Review production schedules and demand forecasts to determine raw material requirements.
  • Adjust purchase quantities based on changes in demand, scrap trends, and production variances.
  • Collaborate with Planning and Production to proactively identify potential shortages or excess materials.
  • Procurement & Supplier Management
  • Generate purchase requisitions and purchase orders in SAP in alignment with demand requirements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable supply, timely deliveries, and issue resolution.
  • Monitor supplier performance (OTIF, responsiveness, quality concerns) and escalate risks as needed.
  • Support cost‑saving initiatives, alternative materials, or supplier consolidation where applicable.
  • Process and verify supplier invoices, including resolving discrepancies, coordinating with AP, and ensuring timely payment of material-related bills.
  • Inventory Management
  • Maintain accurate raw material inventory in SAP, including receipts, issues, adjustments, and cycle count corrections.
  • Manage safety stock levels and propose adjustments based on consumption trends or service risks.
  • Ensure raw materials are stored, consumed, and rotated using FIFO principles.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory variances; attend site on the Saturday of each period end to reconcile inventory and support auditors if required.
  • Collaborate with warehouse teams to ensure proper labeling, bin accuracy, and handling.
  • Innovation & Commercialization Support
  • Support commercialization of new products by coordinating new raw material setup, specifications, and sourcing timelines.
  • Ensure new materials are available for trials, validations, and full production launch.
  • Assist R&D and Procurement with test runs, packaging changes, and discontinuations.
  • System & Process Management
  • Create and maintain SAP master data for raw materials, including BOM accuracy, lead times, and MOQ settings.
  • Monitor slow-moving and obsolete inventory, proposing solutions to minimize waste and write-offs.
  • Generate weekly/monthly reports for inventory status, stockouts, material risks, and service performance.
  • Participate in cross-functional improvement initiatives (LEAN/5S/SOP updates).
  • Support Accounts Payable by ensuring accurate matching of POs, goods receipts, and supplier invoices in SAP.

Qualifications

  • Completion of High School Diploma
  • SAP experience
  • Bachelors’ Degree (Supply Chain or Operations Management) preferred
  • Advanced capability in Microsoft Office for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong problem solving, adaptability, and organizational skills a must
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize work
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to gain alignment across multiple functions
  • Exceptional follow up and initiation ability
  • Knowledge of inventory control programs is preferred
  • 2-3 years of administrative experience
