Our Saskatoon office is seeking a Project Manager with experience managing complex projects across Healthcare, Defense, Commercial, Retail, Aviation, Transportation, Education, and Justice sectors to join our multidisciplinary Buildings team. The successful candidate will lead projects from planning and design through construction and closeout while delivering exceptional client service and fostering strong project team collaboration.
Your Key Responsibilities
The Project Manager will be responsible for managing projects of varying size and complexity, developing solutions to project challenges in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and leading projects to successful completion while achieving client satisfaction, quality, schedule, budget, and risk management objectives. The individual will interact internally throughout the organization with staff at all levels as well as externally with clients, consultants, contractors, approval agencies, and project stakeholders. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Personally pursue and serve as Project Manager on projects, managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and client satisfaction in accordance with Stantec's Project Management Framework.
- Lead the development and execution of project execution plans, work plans, resource plans, communication plans, and risk management plans.
- Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams to achieve project objectives.
- Assume responsibility, in partnership with the assigned Principal, for technical and design excellence throughout project delivery.
- Act as Stantec's primary project representative and maintain strong client relationships throughout all phases of project execution.
- Manage project contracts, amendments, and additional service requests and ensure project documentation is maintained in accordance with Stantec processes and procedures.
- Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions necessary to maintain schedule, budget, quality, and profitability objectives.
- Lead project meetings, design reviews, client meetings, workshops, and presentations while ensuring stakeholders remain informed of project developments and decisions.
- Capture lessons learned and promote knowledge sharing across project teams, peers, and clients.
- Support and actively promote Stantec's Safer Together Program and quality management initiatives.
- Evaluate and manage client expectations, identify opportunities to enhance client satisfaction, and build lasting client relationships.
- Identify opportunities for additional services and collaborate with all Stantec disciplines to maximize value for clients and projects.
- Participate in business development activities including proposal development, project scoping, fee development, and client relationship management.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Strong project management skills with demonstrated experience planning, organizing, and executing complex building projects from pursuit through closeout.
- Proven ability to manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and client expectations while achieving project objectives.
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, revenue recognition, utilization monitoring, invoicing, and receivables management.
- Experience developing and implementing project execution plans, resource plans, communication plans, and risk management plans.
- Strong communication, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities in complex project environments.
- Working knowledge of building design, construction methodologies, consultant coordination, contract administration, and project delivery processes.
- General understanding of architecture, engineering, interior design, and construction disciplines with the ability to coordinate and integrate multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience managing projects within Healthcare, Defense, Commercial, Retail, Aviation, Transportation, Education, or Justice sectors is considered an asset.
- Experience delivering projects utilizing Alternative Project Delivery methods is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality management, workplace safety, and continuous professional development.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in project management, Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, Construction Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing large and complex projects within Healthcare, Defense, Commercial, Retail, Aviation, Transportation, Education, Justice, or related sectors.
- Demonstrated experience delivering projects using Alternative Project Delivery models.
- Project Management Professional (PMP), other Project Management Institute (PMI) designation, or the ability to obtain such designation, is desirable.
- Professional registration (P.Eng., Architect, Registered Interior Designer, or equivalent) is considered an asset.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may require travel and include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
