Project Management & Commercial Lead (PMCL)

The Project Management & Commercial Lead (PMCL) plays a key role in strengthening project delivery and commercial performance across our business. Reporting to the Senior PMCL, you’ll coach and develop project managers, embed best‑in‑class project management practices, and provide hands‑on leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably, and consistently.
Your Opportunity
This role blends people leadership, project oversight, and business acumen, with opportunities to influence major projects, support strategic pursuits, and contribute directly to business performance.
Your Key Responsibilities
Lead & Develop People
- Coach and mentor project managers and project controls staff
- Support project and pursuit assignments aligned to capability and risk
- Assign and oversee Project Independent Reviews (PIRs)
- Deliver targeted training on project controls, forecasting, change management, and systems
- Provide performance feedback to people leaders
Drive Project Excellence
- Champion consistent project management practices aligned with Stantec’s PM Framework
- Serve as a Project Independent Reviewer, monitoring budget, schedule, risk, quality, and financial performance
- Support project setup, forecasting (EAC), revenue recognition, and compliance processes
- Identify distressed projects early and lead corrective action plans
- Recommend and implement improvements to project delivery and resource management
Support Business Performance
- Advise leaders on project delivery performance, pricing, go/no‑go decisions, and risk
- Review and support proposal pricing, scopes, schedules, and execution plans
- Interpret project performance data to improve outcomes
- Participate in project risk reviews and governance as required
Health, Safety & Quality
- Promote and model strong HSSE practices across all projects
- Ensure project delivery aligns with company policies and risk standards
Remain Client‑Facing
- Maintain billable project management responsibilities as needed, managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client relationships
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field or equivalent experience (10+ years)
- Proven experience delivering projects from pursuit to close‑out
- Strong understanding of project financials, contracts, and commercial risk
- Demonstrated ability to identify and recover at‑risk projects
- Clear, confident communicator with strong stakeholder‑management skills

Pay Range:
• Locations Outside of Lower Mainland -- BC & Various locations in Ontario-$135,700.00 - $185,700.00 Annually
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
