Posting Description

Post-doctoral Research Fellow in Cell and Systems Biology

We are seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to join a research program led by Dr Nicola Jones at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) Research Institute is available. The full-time position is based within the Cell and Systems Biology Program in the laboratory of Dr. Nicola L. Jones. The project will focus on understanding mechanisms responsible for development of gastric cancer during Helicobacter pylori infection. 

The successful candidate will play the leading role in advancing research focused on understanding how the infectious microenvironment alters bacterial signaling and the host microbiome to modulate disease. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow with strong skills in microbiology and cell and systems biology, academic writing and knowledge translation to contribute to impactful digestive health and cancer research. Exceptional research and career development training will be available through the Research training Centre. The appointment is for one year with the possibility of extension to two years.

Please also provide up to 2 references (1 of which should be your PhD supervisor).

Here is what you will need:

  • A PhD in a relevant area (microbiology, cell and molecular biology)
  • A strong publication record and demonstrated ability to perform impactful research in a team
  • Experience with -omics' including microbiome analysis, murine models of disease, human tissue and organoid models
  • Exceptional communication skills- written and oral
  • Ability to work effectively independently

Employment type: 
Full-time 1 year contract with modified benefits, with option for renewal for 1-2 years.
