Job Description

What is the opportunity?

Join a team which is responsible for paying over 60,000+ employees across all provinces in Canada, using an in-house SAP application, for 3 payroll frequencies (Bi-weekly, Monthly, and Semi-monthly). This position involves payroll audit, ensuring accuracy, completeness & timeliness. Requires legislative compliance, including producing and reviewing the Record of Employment forms and action requests from Service Canada. The role includes preparing non-standard manual payments, such as severance, pensioner lumpsum, etc., create and post journal entries and assist with yearend processing, input, corrections and workbench adjustments as required.

What will you do?

  • Process payroll for 3 payroll frequencies (Bi-weekly, Monthly, and Semi-monthly) Tier 3 (highest & most complex) problem resolution. Investigate and develop resolution independently and determines when to collaborate with specialty HR areas to arrive at a resolution. Utilize multiple sources, including past experience, product knowledge and reference material to resolve issues
  • Issue Record of Employment forms using ROE Web and SAP, and action requests from Service Canada.
  • Run and review daily audit reports
  • Review other payroll reports for accuracy
  • Document processes, create and update job aids ensuring instructions are continuously maintained

What do you need to succeed?

  • In depth knowledge of payroll, SAP HR application system & HR Self-Serve Web Tools
  • Strong understanding of payroll policies, employment standard policies and government related policies.
  • Strong analytical ability and problem solving capability
  • Ability to analyze processes, make recommended changes to support improvements and communicate these to the manager.
  • Working knowledge of accounting and General Ledger
  • Must be well organized, possess the ability to prioritize work effectively and execute work assignments quickly
  • High level of accuracy

Must-Have

  • CPA designation (PCP or CPM) or payroll experience Intermediate Excel Skills and MS Word Excellent communication skills - verbal & written In depth knowledge of payroll, SAP HR application system & HR Self-Serve Web Tools Ability to work in a team and flexible hours

Nice to Have  

  • University Degree or equivalent
  • Advanced MS Excel Skills
  • Process improvement experience
  • Working knowledge of a CRM application
  • Knowledge of pension payroll
