Adecco is currently hiring an Operations Manager (Building & Facilities) for a full-time permanent opportunity based in Iqaluit. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing complex mixed-use building operations in a remote northern environment.
This position is ideal for an experienced facilities or operations leader with strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and boiler operations, combined with proven people leadership skills and the ability to thrive in a northern community setting. This role is critical to ensuring the stability, reliability, and long-term performance of approximately 500,000 sq. ft. of mixed-use residential, commercial, and hospitality assets. The successful candidate will provide hands-on operational leadership, technical oversight, and team management while supporting service excellence in a remote environment.

Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day operational leadership across residential, commercial, and hospitality facilities
Oversee mechanical systems, including boiler plant operations, preventative maintenance, and emergency response
Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant building operations in accordance with standards and regulations
Respond quickly and effectively to operational emergencies such as heating or water system failures
Coordinate and manage external contractors, vendors, and service providers
Lead operational teams through hands-on involvement and visible leadership in daily activities
Build trust and engagement with long-standing staff in a relationship-driven environment
Implement process improvements while managing change in a collaborative and consistent manner
Manage operational budgets, service contracts, and cost control initiatives
Support capital planning, infrastructure upgrades, and long-term asset strategy
Maintain accurate reporting, documentation, and communication with senior leadership
Develop strong working relationships with local stakeholders, suppliers, and contractors
Operate effectively in a small, remote community with high visibility and accountability
Qualifications
Must be eligible to work and reside within Canada
Strong background in facilities management, building operations, or industrial operations
Class 4 Power Engineering Certificate (required)
Class 3 Power Engineering Certificate (preferred)
Experience managing mixed-use properties (residential, commercial, hospitality, or similar)
Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and boiler plant operations
Proven experience handling emergency response situations in operational environments
Demonstrated leadership experience in a facilities or operations management role
Willingness and readiness to live full-time in a remote northern community
