Adecco is currently hiring a full-time Rail Grinding Operations Officer to lead grinding operations across multiple field locations. This role oversees crews and contractors, ensures safe execution of rail grinding activities, and coordinates closely with internal stakeholders to maintain efficient and compliant operations.

Responsibilities:
Safety & Compliance

  • Lead grinding operations in accordance with safety standards, regulations, and company policies
  • Ensure proper track protection for all operations
  • Identify hazards (including fire risks) and enforce safe work practices
  • Audit field activities and implement corrective actions as needed
Operations
  • Plan and coordinate daily grinding activities, surveys, and inspections
  • Lead and support crews and contractors, providing guidance and performance oversight
  • Communicate work plans with internal stakeholders and traffic control teams
  • Adapt to changing conditions and manage service disruptions
  • Oversee machine handovers and ensure continuity of operations
Administration
  • Review daily work reports for accuracy and compliance
  • Approve invoices in line with contracts and accounting practices
  • Support continuous improvement of procedures and processes

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Minimum 1+ year of railroad maintenance or operations experience
  • Experience with track protection and field operations
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid railway operating rules certification (or ability to obtain required certifications within one year)
  • Strong ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing conditions
  • Experience in leadership roles (e.g., Foreman, Conductor) is an asset
  • Strong leadership and safety mindset
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in demanding environments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (asset)
  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
