About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Logistics Supervisor to join our dynamic Supply Chain Operations West team in Edmonton. 

 

The Supply Chain Operations West team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by assisting in the delivery of products, processes and services provide life-saving treatments for Canadians. In this role, you will provide leadership and operational oversight of field logistics, ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of transportation, warehouse, supply, and clinic support services that enable life-saving operations across the organization.

Formula for success

Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team within a unionized environment, fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture
  • Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management (PDPs/PIPs), discipline, grievance handling, and termination recommendations

 

Operations & Service Delivery

  • Oversee day-to-day logistics operations including transportation, warehousing, supply management, and clinic kit preparation
  • Ensure consistent execution of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) across internal stakeholders (Collections, Production, Distribution, Donor Testing, etc.)

 

Compliance, Safety & Quality

  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), OH&S regulations, and applicable legislation

 

Performance Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop, monitor, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), service levels, and operational metrics
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives within logistics operations

 

Fleet & Asset Management

  • Oversee fleet operations, including maintenance, inspections, compliance tracking, and utilization

 

Training & Workforce Capability

  • Ensure all staff meet required training, certification, and competency standards
  • Coordinate and track training programs to ensure compliance with regulatory and operational requirements

 

Financial Accountability

  • Support budget planning, provide input into forecasting, and identify and implement cost efficiencies and operational improvements

Desired education and skills

  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (asset)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in logistics operations (transportation, warehouse, or supply chain)
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a unionized environment
  • Experience managing KPIs, reporting, and operational performance metrics
  • Knowledge of GMP, OH&S, and regulatory compliance requirements

What you can expect

  • Schedule – Monday–Friday (7:00–15:00 or 8:00–16:00), on call once a month
  • On-site role based in Edmonton
  • Participation in a 24/7 operational environment, with flexibility to support off-shift or after-hours needs as required
  • Physical requirements – ability to lift weight up to 10 kg (22 lbs.)
  • Travel requirements – Occasional regional travel may be required
