Adecco is currently hiring a full-time Lead Electrical Engineer to support a portfolio of large capital projects for our client in the energy sector in Calgary, AB. This senior technical role provides discipline-specific leadership, oversight, and expert guidance to ensure electrical designs meet project objectives, industry standards, and organizational engineering requirements.

This role requires extensive experience in major capital projects, strong technical depth in electrical engineering, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams. This position plays a key role in driving technical quality, design integrity, and value improvements across the project lifecycle.

  • Location: Calgary, AB

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday | 8 hours a day, work in office

  • Job type: Temporary | Full-time | 1-year contract

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for electrical interface and integration with Operations, MCR, and other functional groups.

  • Provide discipline-specific technical oversight and lead the resolution of critical technical issues.

  • Ensure fit-for-purpose electrical designs aligned with project goals, performance criteria, and operational requirements.

  • Lead and support Engineering Change Management, reviewing and approving documents such as Technical Deviations and Project Decision Notices.

  • Conduct focused design reviews, squad checks, and technical audits.

  • Participate in integrated technical reviews including:

    • Model reviews

    • Vendor technical meetings

    • Value Improvement sessions

    • Electrical scheme and strategy reviews

    • Single-line diagram reviews

    • Plot plan and constructability assessments

  • Identify and drive technical innovation to reduce capital cost and improve project value.

  • Support Value Improvement Assessments, including vendor proposal evaluations and collaboration with engineering partners and enterprise technical groups.

  • Provide electrical technical input for procurement strategies and contracting decisions.

  • Perform technical evaluations and pre‑qualification reviews of contractors and vendors, considering local requirements and approved vendor lists.

  • Review major Material Requisitions (MRs) and Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs).

  • Support vendor shop visits and inspections, including witnessing factory acceptance tests (FATs) or performance tests (business travel may be required).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with APEGA (Alberta).

  • Minimum 15 years of experience supporting large capital projects in oil & gas, energy, or industrial facilities.

  • Strong working knowledge of key industry standards, including the Canadian Electrical Code and National Electrical Code (required).

  • Experience with high-voltage (HV) electrical design considered an asset.

  • Previous owner-side experience providing technical oversight to Engineering Partners is preferred.

  • Experience working with an Engineering Service Provider (ESP) is an asset.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary groups.

  • Must currently reside in Calgary, Alberta, or be willing to relocate.

  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
