Where the velocity of high-frequency trading meets the agility of modern cloud engineering, the TMX DataXchange Squad serves as a vital pillar of Canada’s capital markets. The team is responsible for developing and managing month-end billing across all TMX markets—including equities, derivatives, and Canadian Depository Clearing Services. Additionally, the squad oversees the creation of settlement files for all TMX equity markets, ensuring that millions of trades are delivered to the CDS (Canadian Depository Services) for timely and accurate settlement.

The student intern will be involved in the development, testing and the implementation of the new Billing 1.0/2.0 features primarily using SQL, C++, Python, shell scripting along with QA activities like creating and automating scripts while leveraging Gemini wherever possible. There may also be assigned work on other downstream applications such as SMARSLite & EIS migration activities, on an as-needed basis. 

This role reports to: Senior Manager and Squad Lead, DataXchange Squad

This role is hybrid (2-3 days/week in the office) - based in Toronto, ON.

Must have(s):

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program with a strong focus on Computer Science or a related field

  • Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, shell scripting

  • Technical proficiency with MS Office / Google Suite

  • A self-starter who is hardworking, flexible and able to work independently as well as part of a dedicated team 

  • Self-management and organization skills

  • An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills

  • Impeccable organization skills along with outstanding attention to detail

Nice to have(s):

  • Familiarity with Java, Pearl, Agile Methodology, cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud)

  • Understanding of Containerization software development techniques

Note:

  • 4 month Co-op / Internship: May 4, 2026 - August 28, 2026 This internship is also open students who are eligible for 8 months until December 31, 2026 

  • In order to be considered for the position, you are required to submit your Knockri Assessment

​Salary Range: $25/hour - $28/hour CAD
