Overview:
Pembina Pipeline Corporations KA Facility is recruiting for an Instrumentation Technician to join the team. This position reports to the Maintenance Foreman in the Gas Services Business Unit (GBU), part of the Facilities Division. The Gas Services Business Unit provides gas gathering, compression, shallow cut processing and both sweet and sour deep cut processing services for its customers, primarily on a fee-for-service basis under long-term contracts. KA is a sour gas processing facility with shallow cut NGL located 10km Southwest of Fox Creek. Processes such as inlet separation, amine sweetening, gas dehydration, fractionation, compression and acid gas injection are utilized to produce saleable hydrocarbon products. KA is a first-class ABSA registered facility which uses steam generation for process heat, utilities, as well as prime movers. The focus of this role will be maintaining equipment at the KA facility.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate personal commitment to safety and are recognized as a safety leader;
- Review, understand and utilize Pembina’s safety and operational procedures/standards in performing all facets of work within the team’s duties;
- Perform troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, routine maintenance and installation of facility instrumentation, pneumatic / electronic flow/pressure /temperature transmitters, analyzers, custody transfer equipment and safety equipment;
- Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (SAP) to guide the work schedule and provide detailed information on repairs;
- Maintain equipment in accordance with our preventable maintenance program;
- Enter notifications, create and complete work orders, enter material requests and attach required maintenance documentation;
- Assist operations in plant optimization and troubleshooting;
- Provide technical support on new projects and design changes;
- Assist with installation, commissioning, start up, and maintenance of new equipment;
- Provide leadership in the safe execution of work as per the schedule;
- Complete periodic review of existing tasks and ensure procedures are up to date;
- Identify opportunities for Operational efficiencies, potential process and/or facility improvement;
- Ensure availability during assigned On-Call periods, and respond to trouble calls in a timely manner;

Qualifications:
- Provincial Instrumentation Journeyman Certificate;
- Previous related technical and industry experience;
- A good understanding of both gas and liquid measurement;
- Strong understanding of facility and pipeline operations and ability to guide maintenance activities within the scope of Pembina’s specific operating practices and applicable industry standards and regulations;
- Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation related problems effectively;
- Thorough understanding and ability to read and interpret electrical, instrumentation, drawings;
- Working knowledge of valves, transmitters, controllers and analyzers;
- A strong understanding of facility PLC, DCS or SCADA systems hardware and software and integration of these systems to allow for effective troubleshooting and repair;
- Knowledge of Honeywell, Delta V, Control Logix, Cygnet control systems would be an asset;
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications;
- Previous experience with SAP and Maintenance Module is highly desirable;
- Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication;
- Positive mindset and demeanor with a team collaboration focus;
- Demonstrated organizational, time-management, and leadership skills;
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License; and
- Safety Courses: TDG, H2S Alive, First Aid.
This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing which includes testing for marijuana metabolites. You will also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.
The successful candidate must live within 100km of the KA Facility.
This Position resides within Local 855 Union.
The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
