SEASONAL: Part-Time, 24 hours up to 39.5 hours per week
Hourly Wage Rate
$23.26 per hour
Anticipated Normal Work Schedule
Monday – Thursday: 3:00pm – 8:30pm
Friday: 4:30pm – 8:30pm
Note:
This schedule is subject to change. Incumbent may be required to work weekends and evening hours. This schedule may require you to take up to a 1-hour unpaid meal break depending on the schedule.
Job Description Summary
- As a cashier you will be representing both Starbucks and McMaster University Hospitality Services.
- Must have cash handling experience.
- Required to work in a very high volume, fast paced environment and be able to perform in a team setting.
- Must be able to soft sell and pair menu items.
- Starbucks barista training and certification considered a strong asset.
- Perform all duties of any job classification equivalent or lower filling in wherever needed to assist in our excellent customer service requirements.
- Will be required assume responsibility for opening and closing of facility.
- Must maintain the levels of supplies, cleanliness and tidiness of display fridges, merchandisers, counters, walls, shelves, glass, and storage facility.
- Must adhere to Starbucks and Hospitality Policies and procedures including the principles of FIFO.
- Be responsible for delivering and receiving change from customers. Prepare accurate reports and maintain accurate records according to policy/procedure.
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
- Understand and deliver exceptional customer service.

Education & Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in fast paced cashier position; minimum 3 years’ experience in food service industry.
- Barista and specialty coffee experience required.
- Must have good communication, reading, writing and English skills
