Minimum Requirements

  • Candidates must be a family member of a current Suncor/Syncrude employee 

  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) or 10+ years of work experience.

  • Have a valid full Class 5 Drivers License at time of application (cannot be the graduated drivers’ license GDL). If you currently have a GDL, please review this link: New driver license requirements| Alberta.ca

  • Must currently reside within the RMWB

Process

Candidates who apply may be selected to attend a 4-week training program at Keyano College. Above all else, we are looking for enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.  If you are invited for an interview, please come prepared to discuss why a career in Heavy Equipment Operating is for you!

  • Tuition costs are covered, but candidates will not be paid while attending classroom training at Keyano

  • Upon successful completion of training, candidates may commence a paid, up to 6-month coop at Syncrude Mildred Lake or Syncrude Aurora Mine. Placements will be determined by the business. 

  • Candidates with prior HEO experience will not be considered for this program.
     

Location and other Key Details:

  • You will work out of our Syncrude Mildred Lake or Syncrude Aurora Mine in Fort McMurray

  • The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)

  • This is not a camp-based or fly in/fly out position

  • This is a temporary position for up to 6 months

  • This position is safety sensitive
