Adecco is currently hiring a full-time Engineering Lead – Major Projects (Oil & Gas / Tailings & Mine Engineering) to support one of our major energy clients. This role provides technical leadership across all project phases, ensuring engineering deliverables meet corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and operational readiness expectations. The successful candidate will oversee multi‑discipline integration, engineering governance, process safety, and execution quality for large‑scale projects.

Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership & Governance
Provide technical leadership and decision-making authority across all phases of assigned projects.
Develop, maintain, and steward the Engineering Management Plan (EMP).
Ensure all engineering deliverables comply with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and authentication rules.
Drive technical readiness for all applicable stage‑gate reviews.
Ensure proper execution of studies, 3D model reviews, squad checks, audits, peer reviews, cold‑eyes reviews, and technical readiness checks.
Lead closure of engineering NCRs, audit findings, and quality gaps.
Cross‑Functional Coordination
Coordinate engineering interfaces across Operations, Reliability, Geotech, Process, Maintenance, Construction, SCM, and Document Control.
Provide strong multi‑discipline integration for:
Tailings pipelines
Deposition systems
Pumping systems
Water and tailings transfer systems
Dykes and ponds
Water management and dewatering
Project Delivery & Discipline Integration
Oversee technical activities of internal engineering teams and external engineering providers.
Lead DBM, FEED, and Detailed Engineering technical reviews.
Manage the Engineering Deliverables List, ensuring correct issue status and approvals.
Manage technical documentation including TDNs, DCNs, and support for FCNs.
Oversee QA/QC including ITP compliance, SQS, and vendor quality oversight.
Conduct 30/60/90% model reviews and lead constructability and operability assessments.
Field Engineering & Construction Support
Support construction, field engineering, and on‑site issue resolution.
Support field change processes and ensure alignment with internal engineering governance.
Ensure compliance with ALIM, metadata structures, CER/BPR requirements.
Process Safety & Risk Management
Lead Process Safety Plans, PSI development, PHAs, and hazard reviews.
Ensure all process safety actions are tracked, closed, and incorporated into engineering deliverables.
Support risk identification and mitigation across schedule, cost, engineering quality, and operations readiness.
Project Controls & Communication
Provide technical leadership in defining project scope, cost estimating, scheduling, and quality standards.
Track progress against plans and implement corrective actions where needed.
Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Eligibility for P.Eng. registration.
Band 13: Approximately 7–10 years of engineering experience.
Band 14: 12+ years of experience including leadership over complex project scopes.
Strong experience in Mining & Tailings (M&T) engineering.
Strong understanding of engineering governance, regulatory frameworks, and quality assurance processes.
Advanced problem‑solving and analytical skills.
Strong understanding of engineering standards, governance, and lifecycle processes.
Ability to integrate engineering with schedule, cost, and risk management.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and cross‑discipline coordination.
Commitment to safety‑in‑design and operational readiness
Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
