Job Description
Interested in joining a fast-paced hospitality team? Then we may be the fit you're looking for! We are currently recruiting an Engineering Intern to join our Engineering team. Reporting to the Engineering Management team, the successful candidate will be assisting the Engineering Department with day-to-day duties, office and facility projects. In addition, the successful candidate will be assisting the Engineering Administrator and act as a backup when required. This position will also support the Project Management team to successfully complete capital projects at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
We are looking for a passionate individual who thrive solving problems and can balance and prioritize job tasks, drive innovation with their creativity, take initiative and are able to successfully manage projects, build relationships, and are collaborative team players with strong communication skills
Job Skills and Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in an Engineering, Architecture, Facilities Management, Project Management, Business Administration, or Building Operations Management related program at the junior or intermediate level with a co-op option
- Applicants must be an active student in an eligible co-op program.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Customer service oriented, focused on achieving project objectives and customer satisfaction.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Experience working with MS Project an asset.
- Computer-aided design (CAD), Computer and Technology Knowledge AutoCAD
- Revit or similar would be an asset
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, construction drawings, etc. (Architectural, Mechanical, Structural, etc.)
- Aware and/or ability to read and interpret design standards (building codes, etc.)
- Experience in computerized ticketing systems/workflow software an asset.
- Must be detail oriented
- Ability to learn quickly and handle confidential information
- Strong ability to multi-task and use problem-solving skills
- Working in a facility renovation/construction environment
- The ability to do some lifting (up to 50lbs)
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Walking and standing for long periods of time
- Noisy environment at times
- High level of initiative and keen interest in technical problem solving
