As a summer student, you’ll work alongside our experienced practitioners to understand the basics of building engineering and the importance of client and community relationships. This hands-on experience will equip you with practical skills, build your network, and provide opportunities that set you up for success.

Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Summer Student for our Calgary office. The successful candidate will be part of the Electrical team within the Building’s Engineering group.

Your Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate should have basic knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and National Building Code Alberta Edition, understanding of building electrical equipment and systems including normal and life safety power systems, communication systems and lighting systems.

Specific duties will include:

  • Preparation of CAD and Revit drawings from sketches or mark-ups for buildings and non-buildings related projects
  • Production of layout drawings for tender, construction, and record drawings
  • Support of Project coordination, management, and working in a team-based environment
  • Assistance to engineers and project designers transferring red lines to detailed drawings.
  • Project coordination includes interfacing with other disciplines.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented team player who can work independently
  • Demonstrated organization and planning skills and has the ability to work within tight deadlines
  • A working knowledge of AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or lighting software would be considered an asset

Education and Experience

  • Working toward a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or similar.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
