As a member of the engineering team, the controls designer is responsible for Electrical Designer, specification, programming, simulation, testing, and start-up assistance for specific projects, ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals.
Electrical Designer Role includes:
Key roles and responsibilities:
• Designed and developed electrical schematics and control systems within SolidWorks Electrical.
• Responsible for being part of the quote team, programming structure, and process flow.
• Develop, install, and teach all PLC programming as required.
• Identify and research electrical components for the project to ensure they meet requirements.
• Build projects as designed.
• Maintain and modify existing systems.
• Work collaboratively with internal staff to ensure the success of all projects.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors, and relevant authorities.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving
• Communicate with suppliers to discuss component specifications, pricing, and lead time.
• Understanding and ensuring compliance with the health and safety regulations and quality standards of the country in which work is undertaken.
• Ensure company machinery guidelines are followed.
• Work in conjunction with manufacturing to review designs, confirming accuracy and identifying ways to optimize the system.
• Accept responsibility and a level of accountability proportionate to the seniority of the position.
• Perform other duties as required from time to time by your manager.
Electrical Designer Qualifications
• College-Level Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position and/or working with or launching programs in the automotive or related industry.
• Understanding of all aspects related to the manufacturing of automotive stamping, welding, processing, and automation.
• Good understanding of the production environment, good analytical and math skills
• Design and layout, bill of materials, and wiring schematic capabilities.
• Proven experience in PLC logic and programming with PLC's, including, but not limited to, Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Beckhoff
• Proficiency with electrical circuits and functions
• Outstanding verbal and written communication, with excellent organizational skills.
• Must be able to work independently and in a team setting and ask for the expertise of others when needed.
• Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously and maintaining timing deadlines.
