What you'll do:
The District Asset Protection Manager is responsible for developing Asset Protection field staff and store colleagues’ knowledge of operational causes of shrink, and the role of Asset Protection. This will be accomplished through mentoring, developing, motivating and evaluating their team while identifying, understanding and responding to specific district needs, working in close partnership with the respective Store Operations teams.
Accountabilities:- Shrink reduction – support diverse operational initiatives relative to shrink and physical security. This requires analyzing key financial reports to ensure that Asset Protection strategies are obtaining the desired results.
- Objectivity – while working in close partnership with the District Manager of Operations, it is critical that the District Asset Protection Manager maintains clear objectivity, communication and escalation of issues when warranted.
- Accountable for the proactive identification, investigation, tracking and resolution of Organized Retail Crime (ORC) impacting the business. Responsible for leading investigative processes, ensuring accurate documentation, and fostering partnerships with law enforcement and relevant government agencies.
- In partnership Associate Owners and management teams, conduct an objective annual assessment in designated stores with frequent follow-up opportunities.
- Integrity investigations – conduct investigations and interviews in a timely and professional manner, utilizing behavioral analysis techniques, of all colleagues suspected to be involved or witness to illegal activity such as theft or fraud.
- Review of all apprehension and incident reports to ensure that Asset Protection field staff respect and are compliant to the Apprehension Protocol, utilizing coaching when opportunities are identified.
Role Requirements:
- 5 years of progressive Loss Prevention/Asset Protection experience.
- Post Secondary education in Law & Security or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada.
- Valid Driver’s License is required and flexibility to work a variety of shifts including some evenings and weekends.
- Ability to deal with sensitive issues with integrity and strong professional judgment.
- Ability to gain senior management support for new ideas and initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of the company’s policy and procedures.
- Strong computer skills including excel, word and outlook
- Adaptable to set and prioritize work with varying exceptions. Able to work with diverse personalities and styles.
- Strong Communication both verbally and written.
- Strong computer skills to produce and interpret reports, documents and presentations, along with experience utilizing security surveillance equipment.
- The incumbent must possess and be able to demonstrate skills in investigation (including interviewing, problem solving, etc), shrink reduction techniques and other asset protection skills.
- Recognized loss prevention industry designations, certificates in recognized Interviewing techniques (Wicklander-Zulawski, Reid Technique, etc) are an asset.
- Frequent travel required within assigned zone(s) as well as at times, to other provinces
- Ensure compliance to all Asset Protection and Operational policy and procedures through regular and documented store visits.
- Ensure that all Asset Protection field staff have received necessary training, while fostering two of our corporate values
- Ensure that the scheduling of all Asset Protection field staff meets the needs of each business unit and proactively identify and resolve staffing issues accordingly.
- Maintain a positive working partnership throughout the organization as well as with local Law Enforcement, regulatory bodies, vendors and other retailers.
- Assess physical security needs and liaise with the necessary support teams when required.
- Provide exceptional service to all customers (internal/external).
- All other duties as required.
