Who you'll work with

The Director reports to the Senior Managing Director, Investment Technology & Applied Intelligence and leads the AI Centre of Enablement within the Applied Intelligence function. The role works closely with Technology and Engineering Directors, AI delivery teams, Product Owners embedded in the business, and AI Divisional Champions to ensure alignment between AI strategy, delivery, and adoption.

The Director partners regularly with senior leaders across Investments, Member Services, and corporate functions, as well as with Risk, Legal, Privacy, Security, Enterprise Architecture, and Technology Controls to ensure AI adoption aligns with enterprise standards and risk appetite. The role also engages external partners, vendors, and industry peers to inform leading practices and strengthen organizational capability.

What you'll do

  • Translate enterprise AI strategy and multi‑year AI charter into practical enablement plans, advising divisions on high‑impact AI opportunities in critical workflows to drive defined adoption targets and business outcomes across the enterprise.

  • Partner with Business Technology, enterprise strategy, and AI delivery teams to originate, evaluate, and prioritize AI use cases, inform build/buy decisions, and ensure integrated execution across the AI lifecycle and roadmap.

  • Provide portfolio insight and enterprise‑level measurement by setting goals and success metrics, surfacing AI adoption trends, user proficiency, business value realization, delivery risks, dependencies, and lessons learned to inform prioritization and decision‑making.

  • Stay current on AI and technology developments to inform enterprise decisions, experimentation, and innovation.

  • Lead enterprise AI enablement, adoption, and change management across divisions and roles, developing and executing adoption and proficiency plans supported by role‑based training, communications, community engagement, and production readiness, aligned to success measures, risk appetite, and responsible AI principles.

  • Support progression of AI initiatives from experimentation to scale by coordinating readiness, clarifying scope, enabling sustainable ownership models, and establishing transition‑to‑run handoffs, documentation, and governance expectations.

  • Serve as an Applied Intelligence chief of staff for non‑build AI activities, driving clear communication on AI funding, initiatives, governance, and benefits.

  • Manage AI enablement budget, including staffing, vendors, tooling, and initiative funding, with accountability for prioritization and trade‑offs.

  • Lead through influence across matrixed teams, providing enterprise‑wide oversight of AI enablement and alignment to strategic priorities and governance expectations.

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing AI Centre of Enablement team to deliver enterprise‑wide AI enablement outcomes.

  • Build strong relationships with executives and senior leaders to drive enterprise‑wide AI engagement through aligned priorities, communications, community‑building, and active sponsorship.

  • Establish and maintain external relationships with partners, vendors, and industry peers, and serve as an ambassador for Teachers’ in AI.

  • Contribute to talent, culture, and innovation as a member of the Applied Intelligence leadership team.

  • Establish, operationalize, and oversee enterprise AI enablement standards, frameworks, guardrails, and playbooks—ensuring consistent application across use cases and tools and alignment with governance expectations, risk appetite, and responsible AI principles, in partnership with Risk, Legal, Privacy, Security, and Technology Controls.

What you'll need

  • 12+ years of experience in technology or corporate strategy, management consulting, enterprise transformation, with a demonstrated track record of shaping strategic initiatives in tech-driven environments.
