Adecco is currently hiring a Database Administrator for a full-time contract position in Ottawa, ON. This opportunity is ideal for a highly analytical and technically driven individual with strong experience in enterprise database administration and cloud-based environments who is eager to support complex database infrastructure and migration initiatives.
As a Database Administrator, you will contribute to enterprise database management and cloud migration initiatives involving Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments. You will collaborate closely with technical teams to design, implement, and support high availability database solutions across on-premises and Azure cloud platforms while ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability.
Pay Rate: $85,000 – $100,000 yearly
Location: Ottawa, ON
Schedule: Full-time (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Contract: 2-year contract

Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain supported database software including Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server in on-premises and Azure cloud-based high availability environments
Execute and support database migration initiatives from on-premises environments to Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and Oracle Database Services in Azure (including Oracle@Azure / Exadata)
Design and implement cloud-native High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions to ensure business service-level agreements are met
Implement automated deployment and configuration management using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as ARM templates, Terraform, and Bicep
Develop and maintain automated backup, recovery, and monitoring solutions
Perform advanced performance tuning and cost optimization within Azure environments
Analyze and monitor system performance to identify bottlenecks and evaluate the impact of administrative tasks on core business operations
Implement and maintain database security controls including encryption (e.g., TDE) and role-based access control
Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for complex cloud database environments
Resolve database-related technical issues and provide operational support to database administrators
Document architecture, migration runbooks, and operational standards
Perform other related activities and deliverables as required
Requirements:
University degree or college diploma in a related field
Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated enterprise Database Administrator experience
Minimum of five (5) years of experience leading or executing database migrations to Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and/or Oracle Exadata Database Service
Minimum of five (5) years of experience administering Oracle workloads in Azure environments, including Oracle Exadata Database Service (Oracle@Azure)
Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience with Oracle 19c and SQL Server 2019 (or newer)
Demonstrated experience with Azure SQL PaaS services
Demonstrated experience with Oracle Exadata, Data Guard, and RAC
Demonstrated experience with Database Recovery Manager (RMAN), including backup/restore and point-in-time recovery
Demonstrated recent experience with PostgreSQL on Azure
Demonstrated recent experience using automation and scripting tools such as PowerShell, Bash, Terraform, ARM, Bicep, and Azure CLI
Demonstrated experience supporting mission-critical production systems in cloud or hybrid environments
Demonstrated ability to organize tasks efficiently
Knowledge of Commvault
Knowledge of Dynatrace
Relevant professional certifications such as:
Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
Oracle Cloud certifications
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Secret level security clearance
This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 12 on-site days per month
Must be legally authorized to work and reside in Canada.
