Job Description:

We’re looking for a Customs Operation Manager to lead customs release operations and oversee RSF/CARM reconciliation and payments with a forward-looking 6–12 month view of all TJXC imports. In this role, you’ll manage a diverse team of internal and third-party associates, ensuring full compliance with CBSA requirements while driving the efficient, timely flow of goods into Canada. You’ll gain exposure to high-impact, cross-functional operations and play a key role in strengthening our end-to-end import strategy. What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and oversee daily customs operations, providing direction and support to Customs Compliance Specialists and Release Analysts to ensure efficient and timely import clearance into Canada.

  • Act as the primary liaison between third-party providers, Vendors, Customs Brokers, carriers, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate documentation and smooth inbound cross-border and ocean freight flow.

  • Manage and evaluate third-party vendor performance through KPIs, service level agreements, and regular business reviews to ensure compliance with operational standards and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with CBSA regulations, CSA/CARM requirements, and internal audit controls (including SOX), maintaining accurate customs documentation and trusted trader status.

  • Identify process improvement opportunities and lead initiatives to optimize customs release operations while supporting team development, training, and performance management.

About You:

  • Post-secondary education in International/Global Trade, Transportation, Supply Chain, or a related field is an asset.

  • 5+ years of experience in customs release operations, including people leadership, scheduling, process improvement, and KPI delivery.

  • Professional designations such as CSCB, CITT-CLP, CTCS, or CCS are an asset.

  • Strong knowledge of CBSA regulations, including the Customs Self-Assessment (CSA) program.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new systems and third-party applications (e.g., visibility tools).

  • Solid understanding of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and end-to-end merchandise flow from vendor to distribution center.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make timely decisions and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

  • Effective problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset; able to identify root causes and implement practical, cost-conscious solutions.

  • Well-developed organizational and project management skills, with experience planning, executing, and supporting change initiatives.

  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams through coaching, feedback, and knowledge sharing.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence partners, and present information clearly; bilingualism is an asset.

Salary Range: $ 89,208.00-$135,086.40 /year *This represents the expected hiring range and may not represent the full pay range for the position. The salary offered may be higher than the posted range depending on several factors such as relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
