Effective immediately, a permanent full-time Clinician Scientist faculty position is available in the Division of Nephrology, Department of Paediatrics, at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), 555 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The successful candidate will also be appointed in the Research Institute at SickKids.

SickKids is a world-renowned academic health science centre dedicated to the care of children and is affiliated with the University of Toronto. The SickKids Research Institute includes seven fully integrated research programs and is located in the Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning within the Toronto Discovery District. This position offers a unique environment for medical science discovery, in close proximity to nine teaching and research hospitals and Canada's largest university.

The Division of Nephrology consists of fifteen collegial full-time and part-time faculty members committed to excellence in clinical care across the full spectrum of Pediatric Nephrology. This includes high-volume dialysis, apheresis, and transplant programs, as well as impactful clinical and basic research focused on childhood and rare kidney diseases, aligned with SickKids' Precision Child Health initiative.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong background in basic science. Preferred areas of expertise include multi-omics, gene editing, disease modelling, or drug discovery. Candidates should have significant research experience, typically evidenced by a PhD and/or postdoctoral training, a strong publication record, successful grant funding, and conference presentations. Preference will be given to candidates focused on rare kidney diseases. The successful applicant will be expected to apply for a scientist-track role within the SickKids Research Institute and establish a high-impact research program in an equitable and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities include teaching and mentoring students across the division, department, and university. The candidate should qualify for a cross-appointment with a University of Toronto graduate program and be able to supervise graduate students. Strong collaboration with colleagues across the division, department, research institute, university, external partners, and the broader community is expected.

The role includes both research and clinical responsibilities, with approximately 20 to 30 percent of time dedicated to patient care. The ideal candidate will demonstrate comprehensive clinical expertise in Pediatric Nephrology, including chronic kidney disease, renal replacement therapy, and kidney transplantation.

The successful candidate will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary, ranging from $275,000 to $352,000, will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All applicants must be proficient in English and hold an MD, MBBS, or equivalent degree. Candidates must be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or hold comparable qualifications. Candidates must also be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
