Adecco is currently hiring a full-time Bridge Inspector to join a dynamic team responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of railway infrastructure. This role involves performing detailed and visual inspections of railway bridges, culverts, tunnels, and related structures across various subdivisions.
Working as part of a two-person inspection team, the successful candidate will assess structural conditions, identify defects, rank component performance, and maintain accurate inspection records. The role also includes the occasional operation of specialized inspection equipment such as a Snooper truck.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain a high-rail pick-up truck and occasionally a Snooper inspection vehicle

  • Conduct inspections of steel, concrete, and timber bridges, as well as tunnels and retaining walls

  • Identify and document defects in superstructures and substructures

  • Prepare and submit detailed inspection reports to support maintenance, repair, and replacement planning

  • Ensure all structures are inspected and ranked in accordance with company standards and best practices

  • Maintain accurate records within bridge inspection databases (e.g., SAP-EPI, BCS)

  • Apply company policies, safety standards, and organizational guiding principles

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or related field*

  • Valid driver’s license with air endorsement (or ability to obtain within 3 months)

  • Ability to obtain:

  • Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) qualification

  • Rope-access certification

  • Rescue from heights certification

  • Confined space entry and rescue certification

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in bridge maintenance, structural construction, or as a Bridge Foreman

  • 5 years of railroad experience (asset)

  • 5 years of Bridges & Structures experience (asset)

  • Experience with SAP-EPI or asset databases (e.g., BCS) (asset)

  • Track Inspection Guidelines certification

  • Emergency First Aid certification

  • Safety-sensitive position qualification

  • Knowledge of bridge construction, components, and inspection practices

  • Experience with fall protection systems and rescue protocols

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in record-keeping

  • Ability to learn and use SAP, EPI, and BCS systems

  • Understanding of National Safety Code regulations

  • Strong commitment to safety, ESG principles, and compliance

  • Ability to identify and mitigate risks proactively

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills

  • Adaptability in high-pressure or changing environments

  • Strong engineering judgment with ability to work independently

  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
