Brand Management is at the core of what we do within the Consumer Brands group, and a fundamental training ground for those looking to build their Marketing careers, and leadership capabilities. The strategic components that are required to build and manage our Owned Brands are an essential part of differentiating Canadian Tire as a retailer in the Canadian marketplace and beyond. Given the General Management nature of Brand Management, there is significant interaction with key cross-functional partners, notably Customer Insights, Product Development, Merchandising, E-Commerce, Strategic Marketing and Quality Assurance. The Brand Consultant role is a great entry point to learn the principles of brand management, how to build and sustain strong brands, and execute action plans to achieve short and long-term goals.
The Brand Consultant will support the development and execution of annual and multi year brand plans, including shared growth and financial targets designed to build equity and strengthen the brand’s financial contributions. This role will specifically support key brands and strategies within the Auto, Fixing, Active, and Yard brand team.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting the execution of brand management plans, strategic brand initiatives, and decisions by driving to key insights through in-depth competitive, consumer, shopper, financial and assortment analysis.
Supporting key processes including assortment planning, financial planning and forecasting, business performance reporting, cross-functional and agency briefings (e.g. content, packaging design, in-store POP, etc), and overall brand stewardship.
Supporting alignment and decision making across teams through key integration points with Merchandising, Product Development, Strategic Marketing, Loyalty, Packaging, Store Operations and other relevant functions.
Building and maintaining select external relationships such as partner agencies as required.
Assisting in new brand development or implementation by integrating strategic and executional efforts across the organization.
Leading packaging design development and execution to drive breakthrough impact at shelf, while ensuring brand standards are met.
Working closely with core cross-functional and external partners throughout the product development cycle to build brand assortment plans, launch innovation, and ensure execution within brand guidelines.
Spearheading Legal (Intellectual Property) claims as relevant across the portfolio in support of Marketing objectives and related to the respective portfolio.
Monitor and communicate operational expenses to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.
Contribute to professional development efforts through ongoing development, attending relevant conferences and continuing education courses.
What you bring
Undergraduate or master’s degree in Business with major in Marketing, or a related field.
Previous work experience in relevant field through co-ops, internships, and/or summer placements.
Demonstrated ability in analytical thinking and data-driven decision making.
Solid business acumen required, with experience working on financial business cases.
Demonstrated ability to think creatively & strategically, with strong business mindset.
Proven ability to formulate recommendations based upon robust research, and assessment of risk/rewards.
Ability to work well cross-functionally; demonstrated ability to collaborate, influence and negotiate.
Solid project management experience, with the ability to lead multiple cross-functional projects.
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills, including the ability to comfortably and effectively present in front of different types of audiences.
Customer focused, with a bias for action.
Advanced user of MS Suite of Products (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
