Adecco is currently hiring a Boiler Operator (2nd Class Power Engineer) for a contract position in Etobicoke, ON. This opportunity is ideal for a highly adaptable and technically skilled professional who thrives in a dynamic, 24/7 industrial environment. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and continuous operation of high-pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment, ensuring plant reliability and compliance with all safety regulations.

As a Boiler Operator, you will work rotating shifts and be on-call to support ongoing operations, respond to emergencies, and maintain optimal system performance.   • Pay Rate: $57–$67/hour

  • Location: Etobicoke, ON

  • Schedule: Rotating shifts (days, nights, weekends) with on-call requirements

  • Contract: Full-time | Temporary

Responsibilities:

  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot high-pressure boilers, steam systems, and pressure vessels in a 24/7 industrial environment.

  • Perform hourly rounds, inspections, and equipment testing to ensure compliance with Ontario safety regulations and TSSA standards.

  • Manage start-up, shut-down, and emergency isolation procedures for boilers and related utility systems.

  • Maintain accurate digital and manual logs, documenting readings, chemical tests, and maintenance activities.

  • Respond to after-hours emergency calls, system alarms, and operational issues to minimize downtime.

  • Execute effective shift handovers and maintain consistent operational standards across rotating schedules.

  • Conduct water chemistry analysis and adjust treatment systems as required.

  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to support repairs and preventative maintenance activities.

  • Follow all safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and corporate health and safety standards.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience preparing for TSSA audits and regulatory compliance documentation.

  • Familiarity with cooling towers, air compressors, and water treatment systems.

  • Previous experience in contract or project-based roles.

Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work and reside in Canada.

  • Valid 2nd Class Power Engineer Certificate recognized in Ontario (mandatory).

  • Proven experience as a Boiler Operator or Power Engineer in an industrial, manufacturing, or institutional setting.

  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, and weekends.

  • Availability for on-call work with reliable transportation to respond within required timelines.

  • Strong technical knowledge of steam systems, pressure vessel safety, and automated control systems.

  • Ability to work independently, particularly during night shifts, while maintaining safety standards.

  • Physical capability to work in an industrial environment, including climbing ladders and working in varying temperatures.
