Board Director Profile & Application Information
Pride at Work Canada is currently seeking candidates who can commit to a 2-year term with the possibility of renewal. This year, we are prioritizing candidates with competencies, skills, and experience in the following areas (though we welcome applications from individuals with other strengths as well):
- Fundraising and Business Development
- Academia, Education and Research
- Governance Knowledge or Expertise
- Bilingualism in French and English is an asset

Everyone is encouraged and welcomed to submit an application and express their interest. As per our application form, candidate information will be kept for three years for the sole purpose of Board recruitment and consideration for future opportunities.

Board Structure
The Pride at Work Canada Board is a policy board that meets virtually on a quarterly basis. Internal committees of the Board include: Governance & Nominations, Risk Management, Finance and Audit, Revenue Development and Executive Committees. Committee meetings occur regularly. Board members are encouraged to attend social and volunteer events organized by or that support Pride at Work Canada.
Board service typically requires an average commitment of 4 to 8 hours per month, including quarterly meetings and committee participation.
Pride at Work Canada has a national board that consists of 13 members. All Director terms are staggered and are 2 years long, with the possibility of renewal. Board Members are appointed by the Board of Directors and approved by members at the Annual Meeting of Members, which takes place in the fall. All candidates are reviewed by the Governance & Nominations Committee and/or a selection committee.
Board Member Responsibilities
Board members are responsible for:
- Managing conflicts of interest.
- Reviewing policies and strategies.
- Preparing for and attending at least half of Board meetings.
- Actively serving on at least one committee.
- Contributing to open and respectful discussion.
- Staying informed about the organization and sector.
- Acting as ambassadors of Pride at Work Canada.
