Adecco is currently hiring a full-time Design and Construction Officer to support our client’s growing operations across Western Canada. This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading infrastructure organization and contribute to rail capacity expansion projects that play a critical role in Canada’s transportation network.
This role is ideal for an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) looking to build hands-on experience in project management, design, and construction within a dynamic and safety-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Design & Construction team to deliver projects on time, within scope, and budget
  • Conduct site visits to assess conditions and support project execution
  • Support in-service projects and scheduled work blocks (including occasional off-hour work)
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including municipalities, utilities, and government agencies
  • Review drawings, standards, and technical documentation, identifying gaps and ensuring quality
  • Contribute to project planning, design reviews, and construction support
  • Participate in responding to operational emergencies when required (e.g., derailments, washouts)
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation
  • 1–3 years of experience in project management or infrastructure design
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to rural/remote sites
  • Exposure to rail or linear infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge or interest in:
    • Surveying
    • Geotechnical engineering
    • Track geometry
    • Hydrology and grading
  • Experience with construction specifications, estimating, or technical writing
  • Safety-first mindset
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage priorities independently
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Adaptability in a dynamic and evolving environment
  • Continuous learning and innovation mindset
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
