Adecco is currently hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Generation for a permanent opportunity in Edmonton, AB. This role is ideal for an experienced Professional Engineer who enjoys leading complex industrial power projects, mentoring engineering teams, and working across a diverse portfolio of generation, distribution, protection, and substation projects.

In this position, you will lead the design and execution of industrial electrical projects across power generation, utilities, mining, oil & gas, and renewable energy sectors. You will work within a collaborative engineering environment while taking ownership of technical delivery, client relationships, project execution, and team development.

  • Salary: Up to $160,000/year + Bonus

  • Location: Edmonton, AB (Hybrid)

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, Regular Business Hours

  • Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering design for industrial power generation and distribution systems

  • Design and specify switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), protection systems, soft starters, and automatic transfer schemes

  • Develop and review protection and control schemes for brownfield retrofit and modernization projects

  • Support industrial substation design and power system projects across multiple sectors

  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and design reviews for junior and intermediate engineers

  • Manage project execution, schedules, budgets, and client expectations

  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery

  • Review, stamp, and approve engineering designs as a Professional Engineer

  • Contribute to business development initiatives and support project pursuits

  • Participate in client meetings, technical presentations, and proposal development

  • Develop technical reports, engineering studies, and project documentation

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices

Projects You'll Work On

  • Industrial power generation and distribution systems

  • Gas-to-power and on-site generation facilities

  • Industrial substations and utility infrastructure projects

  • Brownfield protection and equipment replacement projects

  • Renewable energy collector systems and distribution networks

  • Overhead medium-voltage line projects

  • Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) and large-scale industrial developments

  • Mining, utility, and heavy industrial facilities

Qualifications

  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada

  • P.Eng designation in Alberta or transferable provincial registration required

  • Minimum 8 years of electrical engineering experience within industrial environments

  • Strong experience with power generation, distribution systems, protection systems, or substation design

  • Experience working within utilities, oil & gas, mining, renewable energy, heavy industry, or industrial consulting environments

  • Proven ability to lead engineering projects and mentor technical teams

  • Experience managing client relationships and coordinating multidisciplinary projects

  • Ability to take technical ownership and stamp engineering designs

  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems ranging from low voltage through medium voltage applications

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

  • Brownfield retrofit experience is considered an asset

  • Business development and client growth experience is considered an asset

  • Experience with IPD projects or mining sector projects is considered an asset
