Adecco, in partnership with our client, is currently hiring a part-time Indigenous Culture & Language Lead to support the revitalization of the Nuu-chah-nulth language within daycare and preschool settings in Gold river, BC. This meaningful role focuses on delivering culturally grounded programming, fostering language immersion, and supporting children in building a strong sense of identity and connection to their heritage.

  • Pay Rate: $26.06 - $30.26/hour (based on experience)

  • Location: Gold River, BC

  • Shift: Days | 20hours per week

  • Job type: Permanent | Part-time

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of a language nest environment to immerse children in Nuu-chah-nulth language and culture

  • Develop and deliver culturally appropriate programming aligned with Head Start curriculum

  • Collaborate with Elders and knowledge keepers to integrate language, storytelling, songs, and traditional practices

  • Create engaging lesson plans reflecting community values, traditions, and seasonal teachings

  • Partner with families and community members to support cultural continuity at home and in daycare

  • Track children’s learning progress and provide updates to families and program leadership

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma required; post-secondary education in a related field is an asset

  • Elders and fluent speakers of Nuu-chah-nulth are strongly encouraged to apply

  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Reliable, organized, and culturally respectful

  • Strong commitment to Indigenous language and cultural preservation

  • Must complete a Vulnerable Sector Check (BC Criminal Record Review Program) prior to employment

  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
